How tattoo laser removal works

Laser Removal: About and Aftercare

Tattoo removal works by breaking apart those larger ink particles layer by layer. Your body’s white blood cells can then carry away smaller, broken down particles quicker. With time and continued sessions, a tattoo can be completely removed.

State-of-the-Art Laser Technology

Laser tattoo removal is a FDA approved treatment that uses isolated laser energy to break up the pigment and color in tattoos. This is a safe and effective procedure when performed properly, and has little to no side-effects. Our Picosure technology works with all skin types and tones and, most importantly, removes color tattoos.

Fast and Effective

Our Picosure laser is the gold standard of tattoo removal, and is being performed by a highly trained professional that specializes not only in the practice of removal, but also is a tattoo artist. This ensures that the client is working with an expert that will give informative and honest answers of how a tattoo is removed.

Laser Removal Aftercare

  1. If you experience redness or swelling after treatment, apply a cold pack for 15-20 minutes to affected area(s) up to 4 times a day. OTC Hydrocortisone cream (eg. Cortaid 1% cream) may be applied over the involved areas at bedtime if desired

  2. Do not wear restrictive clothing over treated area for at least 48-72 hours

  3. An emollient such as Aquaphor should be applied over each treated area to allow for proper healing

  4. Do not let the area dry out or scab. This is especially important during the first 48 hours

  5. You may shower the following day, but try to avoid saturation of the involved area (use of a bathtub/spa); also do not scrub the area until it is completely healed

  6. Minimize any vigorous activity for a few days to optimize the healing process

  7. For tattoos located on the ankle area and feet: Avoid excessive athletic activity (eg. running/jogging) for at least 48-72 hours after a treatment. If swelling occurs in a treated spot, elevation of the affected area and applying ice as described should address the problem
