Tattoo Aftercare
Keep bandage/wrap on for up to four to six hours before removing (if wrapped with saran wrap, remove after 1-2 hours). After removal, wash with antibacterial non-scented soap (we recommend our Recovery Aftercare Soap, Dial Gold, or Dove).
Let the tattoo air dry or blot it with a clean paper towel. Dab, do not scrub the new tattoo
Apply a THIN layer of one of our aftercare products/Aquaphor. We carry multiple brands and organic products to accommodate to each client’s skin type
Repeat this process daily, 2-3 times a day, for the first 4-5 days.
After around 4-5 days, transition to a lighter unscented lotion after washing and drying your tattoo (Aveeno, Lubriderm, Recovery). The new tattoo will start peeling and itching. DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT IT! Continue keeping the area clean and moisturized to the best of your ability.
Tattoos typically take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to completely heal. Every person heals differently, so remain patient.
Additional Considerations:
Avoid direct sun exposure, salt/chlorine water, lakes, hot tubs, and saunas until your tattoo is completely healed (minimum two weeks).
We recommend waiting 24-72 hours after getting tattooed before returning to the gym/ high-intensity workouts. This is to reduce excessive sweating, friction against the tattoo, skin stretching, and bacterial infection.
If there is risk for infection/ if you would like your tattoo to be looked at by our specialists, please contact the shop immediately for further instruction.
Piercing Aftercare
Wash your hands.
Spray one of our aftercare products into a separate plastic cup or the cap of the aftercare. Saturate a cotton Q-Tip into the saline and gently apply to the area to remove dried build-up on/around the jewelry. Repeat 3 times daily.
Try not to sleep on the new piercing for the first couple of weeks to avoid swelling (for ear piercings, we recommend sleeping on an airplane travel neck pillow!).
DO NOT TOUCH THE PIERCING DURING THE HEALING PROCESS
Keep the jewelry in until the piercing is completely healed. Healing time varies between different piercings.
Call or come in to the shop if you would like to check with the piercer to see if your piercing is healing well.
Laser removal Aftercare
If you experience redness or swelling after treatment, apply a cold pack for 15-20 minutes to affected area(s) up to 4 times a day. OTC Hydrocortisone (eg. Cortaid 1% cream) may be applied over the involved areas at bedtime if desired
Do not wear restrictive clothing over a treated area for at least 48-72 hours
An emollient such as Aquaphor should be applied over each treated area to allow for proper healing
Do not let the area dry out or scab. This is especially important during the first 48 hours
You may shower the following day, but try to avoid saturation of the involved area (use of bathtub/spa); also do not scrub the area until it is completely healed
Minimize any vigorous activity for a few days to optimize the healing process
FOR TATTOOS LOCATED ON ANKLE AREA OR FEET: Avoid excessive athletic activity (eg. running/jogging) for at least 48-72 hours after a treatment. If swelling occurs in treated spot, elevation of the affected area and applying ice as described above should address the problem
